Flying a kite was never this stylish!
“Everyday I’m constantly growing, and learning not only about fashion, but also myself.”

Anyway, here’s a feature about a 16yearold girl from Calgary, Alberta, Canada named Amy. :) I found her site when one of my favorite bloggers was talking about her and was inspired by her style, so I, like any curious girl, clicked the link and found myself at Flyingakite.com, which was filled with her fabulous floral/vintage clothes and adorable boots. She started her blog around December 7 2008 and she already recieved 1,376+ views! (That’s just in 1month & 4 days!)
Now let’s move on to my Q&A portion with Amy!
What made you start a blog?
I was inspired a couple of months ago to create a blog after searching, and stumbling across other fashion websites, and blogs. I’ve always had a passion for writing, and recently have become occupied with a love for clothes, and style. Because of my homeschooling, and the fact that I’ve been in the midst of a move for months now, I never got to leave my house. I still continued to shop, and love fashion, but felt little purpose. So I created this blog. It’s been only 1 month, and I am beyond thrilled that I’ve already gotten a lovely response from readers.
Style icons?
Fashion bloggers. All of them. The popular, and unpopular ones. I am always reading fashion blogs, and learning things. I especially love blogs that teach you how to wear something in a unconventional way, but the biggest style icons to me are the people in old movies, and in old photographs. I love the way the world “used” to dress.
What influences your style?
Nature. I love florals, and earthy outfits. I am also inspired by art. I love wearing colors that I’ve seen in a painting. Sometimes I’ll look at a piece of art and instantly my brain will come up with a new outfit I’d like to wear. I also spend hours in front of my full length mirror, trying on different outfits, and accessories. I am always searching for ways to wear an outfit differently than the time before. I try take anything basic, and make it into something that’s not traditional. Everyday I’m constantly growing, and learning not only about fashion, but also myself.
Trend that you want to have a comeback?
Poodle skirts, sweater sets, think 1950’s sock hop. I would love to see more girls go back to their childhood and dress the way their mothers dressed them, think beautifully colored frocks, patterned tights, bows, brightly colored overalls, think femininity.
Fashion essential?
Uhm… Oh! an adjustable belt! You can wear it on your hips, your waist, your head. Wherever you’d like, as long as it’s adjustable. A belt helps you wear the same outfit five different ways. Same goes for scarves.
What never goes out of style?
A black/navy fitted blazer, creativity, and a BIG SMILE.
Biggest splurge?
I bought these $ 140 suede fringe boots. It was such an impulse buy. Sometimes I lose sleep because I regret the purchase. I just think that’s way too much for a pair of boots you only “like”.

P.S THANKYOU AMY for giving me a chance to ask you some questions! :)
P.P.S. I’m so sorry! It’s been a while since I updated. It’s a little hectic in school, I’ve been sick and my computer is not working properly. Since I’ve been begging my mom the whole week about my computer she let me use her computer. Just today.
